A few conversations over the past week has shed some light on the people who play PUBG. It seems that there are three groups of people: Those who have played it and love it, those who have played it and hated it, and those who have never tried the game. Based on the fact it’s on top of the Steam charts again this week, we’re guessing that third category is getting smaller by the day, but we’re curious: Which camp are you in?
The rest of the charts… well… SSDD, as they say. #2 there is the latest expansion for Civilization VI, which introduces “new choices, strategies and challenges” to the game as you lead a civilisation through the ages. Do well, and you’ll see a Golden Age… but do poorly and you’ll have to endure a Dark Age.
While we all know The Witcher 3 is a fabulous game, we’re guessing that it’s selling so well at the moment because it’s currently 60% off (you can pick it up for US$19.99 if you act fast!). Similarly, Dying Light: The Following is also heavily discounted – just US$19.97 for the next few hours, while Early Access card game / roguelike hybrid Slay The Spire is just US$12.79 until the sale ends.
There are a bunch of new titles on the list, too: Adventure game Subnautica has certainly made a splash, boasting “very positive” reviews since its launch in January. Fellow newcomer, Kingdom Come: Deliverance, is picking up good reviews from the critics, who seem to like the fact you play as a “nobody” during the Holy Roman Empire (we’re checking it out soon!). Dragon Ball FighterZ hit shelves in January and seems to scratch the anime fighting game itch. Final Fantasy XIII has been fully remastered and polished up for modern PCs, so it’s no surprise it’s snuck into the charts, too.
…and then, of course, there’s CS:GO, because it wouldn’t be a Steam best-seller list without it.
