Usually the announcement of a season pass for an upcoming game would barely rate a mention, but what Ubisoft is promising for purchasers of the Far Cry 5 Season Pass is… well, it’s a little weird.
Unlike other games, which might add a bit more storyline, or some interesting sidequests or challenge modes, Far Cry 5’s Season Pass will include a separate adventure in Vietnam, where you must escape from the Viet Cong, presumably during the Vietnam War era.
And another adventure, where you fight hordes of zombies.
… and one where you fight alien arachnids on Mars?
Far Cry 3 sort of started these weird shenanigans with the standalone “expansion” Blood Dragon, a retro 80s style explosive adventure. Many gamers were expecting Far Cry 4 to get an equally goofy expansion at some point, but it never came to fruition.
It seems Ubisoft was listening though, as now we’ll have at least 2 really weird adventures and potentially three, if the Vietnam-based bit is also on the goofy side.
The Season Pass will also include Far Cry 3 “Classic Edition”, which is coming to Playstation 4 and Xbox One as a standalone title later this year. It is, presumably, a slightly jazzed up version of the original game you could have played on Xbox 360, Playstation 3 or PC back in 2013. If you’re getting the Season Pass anyway this is certainly a nice bonus.
And, if you missed it, Far Cry 5, the base game, the game the Season Pass is actually for, has just released a new story trailer.
Far Cry 5 is coming to PC, Playstation 4 and Xbox One March 28, 2018.
