Each week, gamers around the world log onto digital distribution platform Steam, to get their latest gaming fix, and every week, Player Attack lets you know which games were the most popular.
It was about this time last year that Daybreak Games Company announced that zombie-themed survival MMO H1Z1 would split into two different games. At the time, we saw the original game morph into H1Z1: Just Survive, which stayed true to its open-world roots, with persistent multiplayer, crafting and base building.
The faster, action-packed side of the game was spun off into its own entity – H1Z1: King of the Kill – a “large-scale, fight-to-the-death shooter” that promised high-intensity, arena-style grudge matches for gamers who wanted something a little more… visceral.
Now, King of the Kill is available in Early Access, and while it’s getting “mixed” reviews from the gaming public (just 50% of 9,200 reviews are positive at time of writing), it sure looks like plenty of people want to check it out for themselves. And hey, that’s enough to keep both perennial favourites and blockbuster new releases from the top spot, so the team must be doing something right.
