There was a pretty big Nintendo spotlight on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, and it featured Jimmy playing The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on a Nintendo Switch for its television debut, as well as a fun little intro with Miyamoto-san playing the Mario theme song with The Roots.
Fallon usually gets flak for seeming like all of his laughter and excitement is fake, and maybe that is true, but it was very obvious as he played Super Mario Run and Breath of the Wild that he was legitimately excited and, as he described it, “Geeking out.”
He was joined on stage with Reggie Fils-Aime, where he played Super Mario Run, and then, with a lot of excitement, the Switch was revealed. We got to see The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on the screen with the controller, as well as on the mobile handheld version, and it was pretty impressive.
I’ve heard a lot of statements about the Switch, some are genuine excitement, others claim it’s a gimmick. I won’t be able to make up my mind until I see one for myself, but I can say that it certainly is an exciting concept.
