Fans of Final Fantasy are going to get quite an interesting bit of DLC sometime soon, in the form of a literal boss battle.
During a livestream for Final Fantasy XV hosted by Square Enix, the developers showcased content on a “Mystery Disc” that culminated with what may be the most literal boss fight in video game history.
The content ended with a battle against none other than Square Enix President Yosuke Matsuda.
According to game director Hajime Tabata, the battle will be released as DLC at some point in the near future.
You know that Matsuda had to approve of this, and the fact that he did is just absolutely splendid. People have been giving the Japanese video game industry a lot of hate recently, but this is just one of the many things that makes the gaming industry in Japan great. Maybe it is just the fact that I am Japanese and more in tune with the humor of Japanese folk, but I can’t see this happening in many other places (except perhaps in indie games).
