Ubisoft has announced that all of their VR games are set to support cross-platform play. This begins with today’s launch of Eagle Flight.
This means that those with PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift and HTC Vive will be able to play in multiplayer together.
David Vitypka, the Senior Creative Director at Red Storm said:
“Making our VR titles cross-platform has been a goal of ours from the start. Our games feature strong multiplayer experiences, so letting friends play together regardless of which headset they own will enhance the social nature of our games and let them be played the way we envisioned.”
How exactly this will work with the slight differences in the headsets, I’m not sure, but surely it is something they have thought about.
While any cross-platform play is good and impressive, it is something to note that this is also not a collab between Microsoft and Sony. However, with Microsoft’s VR on the horizon, perhaps we could see them participate in this.
