It looks as though Pokémon Sun and Moon will be getting a Nintendo Switch counterpart, titled Pokémon Stars, and is expected to launch in 2017.
The report comes from Eurogamer, whose sources say that the game is “well into development” by Game Freak.
The Switch will be the first console to receive a main Pokémon game, so excluding games like Pokémon Coliseum (which I thought was pretty fun back in the day).
Development on the Switch version of the game was paused for the past few months in order to further polish Sun and Moon before their launches, but now that they are here, development will now continue for Stars.
Pokémon has a tradition of releasing a newer version of a game with a few added features a while after launch, like they did with Pokémon Yellow, which was Pokémon Red and Blue, with just a few new features. They stopped doing this after the launch of Pokémon Platinum, which was a part of the Pokémon Diamond and Pearl generation.
