Machine Zone (Game of War) and Square Enix have announced that they will be releasing a mobile MMO set in the world of Final Fantasy XV.
As reported by Venture Beat, the news comes as we gear up for the Final Fantasy XV release later this month.
MZ founder and CEO Gabe Leydon, in a statement:
“It is an honor to work on a franchise I have loved since I was a kid. Final Fantasy is an iconic franchise in gaming. Bringing Final Fantasy XV to the mobile MMO gaming world is a significant opportunity for our players and we are proud to partner with Square Enix.”
The game will use the characters, music and storyline from Final Fantasy XV.
I know I’m probably being awful to say this, but a lot of mobile game developers seem somewhat shady for some reason, so for Square Enix to put their huge franchise in the hands of Mobile Strike Devs MZ, it must mean something about their integrity.
Yosuke Matsuda, Square Enix president and representative director, in a statement:
“Machine Zone has a stellar track record in the mobile gaming space and we are putting Final Fantasy XV in trustworthy hands. We are very excited to work with the MZ team to bring together two leaders in the gaming world and look forward to Final Fantasy XV on MZ’s amazing gaming platform. We’ll work together to create MZ’s next great global mobile MMO game.”
The launch date of the game has yet to be announced, but Final Fantasy XV release November 29.
