Blizzcon brings many treats for Diablo 3, including Necromancer!

Blizzcon 2016 has kicked off in Anaheim and, far from being a wash for Diablo 3 fans, Blizzard have announced a slew of improvements, new content and a brand new character class.

Yes, the rumours were true! Fan favourite class from Diablo 2, the Necromancer, will finally come to Diablo 3 some time in 2017. Skeletons, bone spears, blood magic and…

Corpse explosion!

Corpse explosion!

Players will have to purchase the Necromancer Pack to unlock the new class. No price has been set as yet, but included with the class pack will be a new pet, two additional character slots, two stash tabs, a portrait, pennant, banner and banner sigil. Phew!

But wait, there’s more!

ComingĀ in January is the Diablo anniversary event, where players will once again travel to Tristram to confront Diablo.

That’s the original Tristram, from the original game 20 years ago.

Sixteen dungeon levels, including the four original bosses, and they’re even restricting movement to the eight directions of old. The “Glorious Retrovision” filter won’t make the game look exactly the same, but for fans who wanted Diablo 3 to look darker and grittier this looks like it will fit the bill.

Also coming to the game is an Armory system, letting players save up to 5 character setups, complete with gear, skill and rune choices, Kanai’s Cube items and, presumably, Paragon levels.

The anniversary event will start in January, but you can try it on the PTR (Public Test Realm) starting next week. You can expect a report from Team Player Attack some time thereafter.

For a detailed overview of the Necromancer you can check out the official blog, where there’s a few more GIFs to whet your appetite.

Or just watch this trailer, over and over and over…

Excited to return to Tristram, again?
