EA blocked an entire country from Origin right after Battlefield 1 and Titanfall 2 releases

Origin is not completely inaccessible in the country of Myanmar, just days after the releases of the highly anticipated first-person shooters Battlefield 1 and Titanfall 2.

Myanmar gamers have lost access to Origin

It doesn’t necessarily seem like this is anything personal against the people of Myanmar, but speculation is obviously there. In September, the United States announced that they would be lifting economic sanctions on Myanmar, which has people wondering if this is related. However, other US-based services for gaming are still available, so it could also be a coincidence.

In a reply to a post on the help thread of the EA forums, a community manager replied:

Hello everyone,

We are working to restore access to Origin for our players in Myanmar.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, and we’ll share updates on timing as soon as possible.

That is all we have heard from EA on this issue. It would be really sad to see the loss of an entire nation in a gaming community.

We will watch closely to see what happens.
