Each week, gamers around the world log onto digital distribution platform Steam, to get their latest gaming fix, and every week, Player Attack lets you know which games were the most popular.
Okay, yes. Civilization VI is currently not just in the top spot, but in the top four spots, and I’m not actually sure why. I can explain why it’s there twice – the standard edition and the Digital Deluxe edition share the same app number in the Steam database. I cannot, however, explain why it’s there twice more! Perhaps there are alternate editions of the game available in different territories that my Australian eyes simply cannot see?
Remember, that’s why games appear in these charts more than once. It’s different versions of the same game, being sold under the same app number (Civ 6 is 289070). That might mean Digital Deluxe, it might mean Season Pass, it might even mean a special bundle edition. Sometimes we get details, more often than not we don’t, so we get to sit here and wildly speculate. Speculating is fun, right? Thanks Steam!
