The Nintendo Switch recently got its reveal trailer, but that reveal trailer didn’t reveal anything in the ways of specs, and according to Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima, it didn’t reveal many of the device’s features. Well, we now know when those features will be revealed.
According to an interview by Bloomberg with Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima, the details will be announced on January 12. Kimishima also went on to talk about what exactly we didn’t see:
Speaking about accessories:
“It may be appropriate to call them accessories. Or it might be better to call them add-on hardware. It’s probably more correct to call them accessories. You can assume that there will be a wider array.”
This suggests that the Nintendo Switch itself will simply be the core of a much larger ecosystem.
When speaking about software:
“One thing we still can’t show is the software lineup. We want people to touch the device in January and experience the software for themselves.”
Kimishima also said that they are interested in VR, adding:
“VR offers new ways of playing, but that depends on what kind of software can be played,” he said. “If you ask us whether there are any possibilities, we can’t say no. It may be that we will build VR software titles, I think that opportunity is available to us.”
So still, we don’t know much, but at least we will have about two months to mull over what we learn in January, as the Nintendo Switch will launch in March of 2017.
