Each week, gamers around the world log onto digital distribution platform Steam, to get their latest gaming fix, and every week, Player Attack lets you know which games were the most popular.
I’m not even going to do my typical “Act surprised” routine, because of course Civ6 is top of the charts this week. (It’s also #3, because both the standard edition and the Digital Deluxe share the same database entry on Steam.) And rightly so, really. From all reports, this is the Civilization that people have been waiting for. It takes everything you want from the classic game, makes a few subtle tweaks and improvements, adds a handful of features gamers have been asking for, and gives the whole thing a shiny new 2016 polish. If you’ve been wondering where your favourite strategy fan has disappeared to, over the past week – chances are, they’re tucked away in front of a PC playing this.
Looking elsewhere on the charts, last week’s #1 has been forced into the #3 position, with Shadow Warrior 2 popping up at #2. This one’s also been netting very positive reviews, so if you’re in the market for an “off-beat first-person shooter” and you haven’t yet checked it out, this could be the ticket. That is, if you can drag yourself away from just one more turn…
