Oh, what could this mysterious tweet from Rockstar Games mean? All we have to go on is the Rockstar logo on a sea of mottled red.

Naturally, the internet is full of theories and excitement. The most prevalent, believable and exciting theory is that Rockstar is finally returning to the Red Dead series.
Red Dead Revolver, the first game in the series, was released all the way back in 2004. Set in the Old West period of American history and folktale, it was a story of a son seeking revenge for the death of his father. Shootouts, posses, Native Americans, a damsel in distress, everything you’d expect in the Wild West. The game did moderately well in sales, but never really took off.
Six years later, Red Dead Redemption was released. Featuring a huge open world, as Rockstar were already becoming famous for, the game’s story was completely unrelated to the original game. Players take on the role of John Marston, a former outlaw, ripped from his family and tasked with taking down the members of his old gang in exchange for a full pardon for all past crimes.
With horseback riding, quickdraw duels, bounty hunting, a morality system, a huge expanse of wilderness to explore and amazing visuals the game was a huge hit with both critics and gamers.
And now, six years on from Red Dead Redemption, Rockstar posted an all-red banner to tease us. Maybe it’s just a coincedence…
