Each week, gamers around the world log onto digital distribution platform Steam, to get their latest gaming fix, and every week, Player Attack lets you know which games were the most popular.
So Mafia III might have appeared in last week’s charts at the still-fairly-impressive #8 position, but this week it’s back with a vengeance. And that’s only appropriate, with Lincoln Clay’s story of revenge and redemption one of the best we’ve seen in a while.
In fact, Mafia III actually appears in this week’s charts three times – that’s because there are three different editions you can snag from the Steam page. There’s the standard edition, the digital deluxe and the Season Pass. Just think, if this is how well the game does when its sales are spread over three entries, how well would it do if they were rolled into one? (Hint: It’d still be #1.)
|#1 – Mafia III
It’s 1968 and after years of combat in Vietnam, Lincoln Clay knows this truth: family isn’t who you’re born with, it’s who you die for. Now back home in New Bordeaux, Lincoln is set on escaping a criminal past. But when his surrogate family, the black mob, is betrayed and wiped out by the Italian Mafia, Lincoln builds a new family on the ashes of the old and blazes a path of military-grade revenge through those responsible. Intense gun fights, visceral hand-to-hand combat, white knuckle driving and street smarts will all be needed. But with the right crew, tough decisions and some dirty hands, it’s possible to make it to the top of the city’s underworld.
