This week’s episode of Player Attack takes a look at a couple of big VR titles due out shortly – but news today reveals that at least one of them won’t be the PlayStation exclusive we thought it was.
A new Facebook ad campaign clearly shows that both Batman: Arkham VR and Resident Evil 7 are simply time-limited exclusives for Sony’s platform, which is a bit of a surprise. According to the ad (which was first posted to Facebook and then shared on Reddit), while Resident Evil 7: Biohazard will be exclusive to PlayStation VR for 12 months, Batman’s outing will be even more brief.
Batman: Arkham VR will only be available on PlayStation VR until March 2017, giving the platform a five-month headstart on competing headsets. At this stage, obviously, we don’t know which other virtual reality devices will be graced by the Dark Knight, but there are a few to choose from.
Batman: Arkham VR will launch alongside the PlayStation VR headset, on October 13.
You’ll have to wait a little longer for Resident Evil 7 – it’s not due until January 24, 2017 for PC, Xbox One and PS4 – but there is the Beginning Hours demo available now on PS4 (and PSVR). We’ve also just learned that the terrifying Kitchen demo will also be available ahead of the game’s launch – get your hands on that one from October 13… if you dare.
