New Pokémon and features have been announced for the upcoming Pokémon Sun and Moon games, including a look at the version-exclusive pocket monsters.
Let’s kick things off with the actual Pokémon:
Passimian (Pokémon Sun): A Fighting-type, monkey-like Pokémon that fights with a ball. Passimian has the ability “Receiver,” where the Pokémon takes over one of the foe’s moves.
Oranguru (Pokémon Moon): A Normal and Psychic-type, orangutan-like Pokémon that has the abilities “Inner Focus/Telepathy.” He also has the move “Instruct,” which allows him to instruct his teammate to do a specific move, essentially taking his turn, and doubling the amount of times the teammate can attack.
The Pokémon Rockruff will go on different evolve paths for each game:
Lycanroc, Midday Form (Pokémon Sun): A Rock-type with the abilities “Keen Eye/Sand Rush.”
Lycanroc, Midnight Form (Pokémon Moon): A Rock-type with the abilities “Keen Eye/Vital Spirit.”
Next, the new features:
Players will be able to customize their character, including changing their clothes, haircut, hair color and eye color via contact lenses.
Players will be able to “Groom their team,” with Pokémon Refresh, which allows players to essentially treat their Pokémon like Nintendogs, and literally groom them.
Also announced are new Z-Moves for Pikachu and Eevee:
For Pikachu, there is Catastropika, in which the player’s character does a dance with Pikachu, sending Pikachu into a massive whirlwind of electricity that annihilates the opponent.
For Eevee, there is Extreme Evoboost, which the animation looks awesome for. Eevee’s eevolutions all show up and send their power into Eevee, charging the Pokémon and sharply raising its Attack, Defense, Special Attack, Special Defense and Speed.
The animation for Extreme Evoboost really looks incredible.
Pokémon Sun and Moon are out on November 18th for 3DS.
