Gears of War 4 has gone Gold for PC and Xbox One as of yesterday.
The news comes from a post on the Xbox website that says:
Today, Microsoft is pleased to announce that Gears of War 4 has been released to manufacturing ahead of its October 11th worldwide release. This event, also known as “Going Gold,” is a major milestone in development, marking the release of the gold master disc to Xbox replication facilities around the world.
This also marks a major milestone for Xbox as the first-ever Gears of War title available in the Xbox Play Anywhere program, available simultaneously for Xbox One and Windows 10 PC. Additionally, Gears of War 4 also supports Cross Play across Xbox One and Windows 10 PC in all of the game’s modes, including Versus, campaign and the all-new Horde 3.0 survival mode.
Cross Play certainly seems like an exciting idea, and it would seem that Microsoft is really trying to push forward the idea of their Play Anywhere program, presumably to popularize Windows 10 and the Windows 10 store.
The post goes on to detail that the games will feature split-screen play on both platforms and available 4K graphics,
Gears of War 4 comes out October 11th, 2016.
