Well, the news about the possible Mass Effect remasters has been somewhat iced by EA’s Peter Moore.
He said in an interview with IGN that EA is, “focused on delivering for the future,” and that revisiting the past is, “just not what we do.”
This counters the news that we had heard from EA’s Executive Vice President Patrick Soderlund who said in an interview with Game Informer, “What’s changed is that there is proof in the market that people want it, maybe more than there was when we spoke. There were some that did it before, but I think there is even more clear evidence that this is something that people really want. The honest answer is that we are absolutely actively looking at it. I can’t announce anything today, but you can expect us most likely to follow our fellow partners in Activision and other companies that have done this successfully.”
It had seemed extremely likely at the time of Soderlund’s interview that the Mass Effect remasters would be coming following the release of Mass Effect: Andromeda, which is gearing up for release in March of 2017.
While Andromeda is definitely still on the way (despite any game footage being released), it seems like, at least for now, the hopes of any remasters has been put on ice.
