The PlayStation Plus games for September have been announced by Sony.
Journey is an indie game made by Thatgamecompany. Originally released on PS3 in March of 2013, the game saw a PS4 release in July of 2015.
Players play as a robed figure traveling through the desert towards a mountain. Players are able to meet up with other players, but there is no form of communication other than a musical chime, and the player’s names are not displayed anywhere. The chime is also able to do other magical things, like transforming cloths.
The soundtrack follows the player and crescendos and decrescendos in order to follow the “emotional arc” of the player’s journey. The game is very much meant to be a visual and auditory experience.
The other game is quite different.
Lords of the Fallen is an action RPG similar to Dark Souls, based in magic and bladed combat, where timing is a necessary skill. The game was developed by Deck13 Interactive and CI Games and was released in October of 2014.
The player takes control of Harkyn, a convicted criminal charged with the mission of stopping a powerful gods’ army that is attempting to control of the world.
Both games saw fairly positive reviews, Journey more so than Lords of the Fallen.
Other games available are:
- Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands, PS3
- Datura, PS3
- Badland, PS Vita, PS4, PS3
- Amnesia: Memories, PS Vita
The games will be available for PlayStation Plus subscribers on September 6th.
