Here’s your weekly reminder to be careful while playing Pokémon Go: Two Adelaide men have been hospitalised after being assaulted and robbed while playing the game.
The men were attacked from behind while playing the game on a suburban beach at around 2am. And as if the serious head injuries weren’t enough, the assailants also stole the men’s mobile phones (and, presumably, whatever pokémon they were catching by the water in the middle of the night).
Local police have asked for any witnesses to come forward, with Senior Constable Rebecca Stokes reminding people to keep alert while playing Pokémon Go:
You’ll note in the opening screen of the app it says users should remember to be alert at all times and stay aware of their surroundings. We just really want to reinforce that message especially if you are going to be out and about late at night.
As we’ve learnt from this, people obviously had their heads buried in their phones and were not aware of what was going on around them.
The men’s injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
