Sony has confirmed that there will be an event held for PlayStation in September.
Via an invite to IGN, Sony has announced the event that will be taking place in New York at the PlayStation Theater on September 7th at 3 p.m. ET.
The invitation reads:
“We hope to see you there, and we can’t wait to share details with you about the PlayStation business.”
This comes as speculation for the big PlayStation Project, codenamed Neo, runs rampant.
The console is most likely 4k, and is rumored to have an upgraded CPU, GPU as well as more RAM. It will be a direct competitor with Microsoft’s Xbox One S, which was released on August 2nd and has since sold out.
The actual name for the newest PlayStation has not been revealed, but many have begun calling it the PlayStation 4.5 and the PlayStation 4K. The codename for Sony’s VR Project is “Morpheus,” also a reference to the Matrix film franchise.
Vice Gaming reported earlier this week about the event, saying their sources have anonymously disclosed that the event will, in fact, be about the PlayStation Neo project, calling it a “technical showcase.”
Vice also reported that final development kits are being finished and will be sent out to developers around the time of the event.
