Each week, gamers around the world log onto digital distribution platform Steam, to get their latest gaming fix, and every week, Player Attack lets you know which games were the most popular.
Okay. I’m not even going to make the jokes about how people should “act surprised” or “apply their shocked faces” or anything like that. No Man’s Sky is #1 this week, and that’s where we all expected it to be, and that’s where it (arguably) deserves to be, at least for a little while. We’ve heard so much (and yet so little) about the game in recent weeks. You do not need a PS Plus account to play. The first update for the game was finished some time last week, despite the game not being out yet. The gameplay servers will be wiped before the game’s launch this week. You can even listen to the soundtrack right now, online.
No Man’s Sky launches on Steam in “approximately 4 days”. You might be able to play it earlier on other platforms or through other means. If you pre-purchase a copy now, you’ll be able to play as soon as Hello Games flips the switch (and you also get a nifty bonus ship!) – otherwise, if you’re not yet convinced on the idea, you can always pick it up sometime after the official launch. It depends largely on how susceptible you are to hype, I guess.
