According to a reputable Korean news site, iNews24, Blizzard is currently working on an HD remaster for their wildly popular game StarCraft.
As translated by Kotaku, iNews24 stated:
Today, multiple sources with knowledge of Blizzard internal plans said that Blizzard will reveal StarCraft HD to the public this September. The StarCraft HD remastered version will retain the original gameplay and is said to have improved graphics resolution and user interface (UI).
More details are to follow at BlizzCon in November.
According to the source, the reasoning for the release in September would be that the StarCraft II World Championship Series ends in Mexico then, so a release during that month would make sense.
The original StarCraft is still in the top ten for internet cafe rankings, so with such a passionate fan base, an HD version certainly would make sense. It is not yet known if the graphics will be in 2D or 3D.
