The big news for Bethesda’s digital card game is simple: The Elder Scrolls: Legends is now in open beta! If you want to play it, you can download it for free right now and jump in! It should be in your Bethesda.net launcher, just waiting for your attention… will you spend your weekend exploring the Elder Scrolls universe in this all-new way?
Bethesda’s Pete Hines is well known as a big fan of the digital card genre, so it’s unsurprising that he’s a cheerleader for this one, too. We can’t watch the presentation that was part of the QuakeCon keynote, but Pete has thoughtfully written up some words explaining how Legends is different to other card games.
For example, I have an Agility/Willpower deck that’s very aggressive, focuses on the Pilfer mechanic and killing my opponent before he can stabilize the board. Then there’s an Agility/Willpower deck I’ve built that is more controlling and “midrange” that relies on removal, prophecy cards, guards and the like. And then I’ve even started building a variation of that around the Drain mechanic, gaining life and some synergies that can be found around that theme.
This is just one of the big announcements to come out of QuakeCon this weekend – an annual celebration of all things Bethesda. Even if you’re firmly in the “Unreal is better” camp, this weekend’s events in Texas are still pretty exciting, don’t you think?
