Know your cellular plan, guys.
Japanese Olympian Kohei Uchimura, a six-time world champion gymnast, managed to rack up five thousand dollars worth of a data bill as he played Pokémon GO in Rio. At least somebody in Brazil is actually getting to play the game.
He received a 500,000 Yen (4954 USD) data bill as he attempted to catch them all in Rio. His teammate Kenzo Shirai said that, “He looked dead at the team meal that day.”
Luckily for him, his service provider agreed to alter his plan into a $30 all-you-can-use on day contract, effectively ridding him of the cost.
I guess the new update that Niantic released that got rid of the tracking mechanics didn’t bother him enough, like it has so many other players, as many have been demanding refunds.
