Steam Weekly Top Sellers: August 1st, 2016

Each week, gamers around the world log onto digital distribution platform Steam, to get their latest gaming fix, and every week, Player Attack lets you know which games were the most popular.

It’s an oldie, but obviously still a goodie: GTAV is back at the top of the charts again after a week away. By now, we thought that everybody should have a copy of this game on PC, but – 15 months after release on PC – the adventures of Michael, Trevor and Franklin are still pulling solid numbers. Is it the continuing support from Rockstar? Is it that people are still freshly discovering the game nearly three years after its initial release? Are people buying backup PC copies so they don’t need to play on console? Oh, I have so many questions for a Monday morning.

Looking further down the charts, there’s a little game that snuck in here last week that we managed to gloss over. You can see it there, lurking at #4. We’re expecting big things from this game, and predict that next week it’ll climb a bit further (still two days before release), and when it’s finally on the virtual shelves, we wouldn’t be surprised if the charts were just ten copies of the same thing. We are, of course, talking No Man’s Sky, which is out very soon now for both PC and PS4. You can pre-purchase your copy today via Steam and it’ll unlock as soon as Hello Games flips the switch – or you can hang on until August 11 and pick it up then. Either way, you probably want this game. Just sayin’.
