There’s a new team on the block in NBA 2K17, as the Australian Boomers join in the fun. The Australian men’s national basketball team is the second national team to appear in the NBA 2K franchise, after Team USA. We’re not sure what they’re more excited about – playing in the upcoming Rio Olympic Games, or being featured in a video game!
Patty Mills is getting ready for his third straight Olympic games, and he’s a bit pleased about what his in-game appearance means for the sport:
Australian basketball continues to go from strength-to-strength and our players are leaving their mark on leagues around the world. It’s great to see 2K recognizing our nation’s growing impact on the sport with the inclusion of Team Australia in NBA 2K17.
The team lineup features Patty alongside an assortment of Australia’s best players, bringing them all home from various international leagues (including the NBA, Australia and Europe):
- David Andersen
- Cameron Bairstow
- Aron Baynes
- Andrew Bogut
- Ryan Broekhoff
- Matthew Dellavedova
- Dante Exum
- Chris Goulding
- Joe Ingles
- Kevin Lisch
- Damian Martin
- Patrick Mills
- Brock Motum
CEO of Basketball Australia, Anthony Moore, is thrilled with this lineup:
We are absolutely thrilled to be part of NBA 2K17, the biggest NBA game in the world. We jumped at the chance to have our Australian Boomers in the game and now Australian gamers can take on the world with Patty Mills, Matthew Dellavedova and Andrew Bogut together in the green and gold.
NBA 2K17 is due out on September 16 in Australia and New Zealand, you can grab it on Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4 and Windows PC – if you want the super-swanky Kobe Bryant Legend Edition, you’ll need to pay a little bit more and play it on either Xbox One or PlayStation 4.
