You’ve got another chance to check out one of last year’s best games, as Square Enix and DONTNOD re-release the first episode of Life Is Strange absolutely free. This is no limited-time-offer, either: The publisher has confirmed the game is freely available on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Mac and Windows PC, and will be free indefinitely.
Oskar Guilbert, CEO of DONTNOD explains:
Although our team set out to create an award-winning narrative we still cannot believe the response we’ve had from players of Life is Strange. We’re really glad that Square Enix have decided to give the first episode away for free so more players can begin their journey and see why people have fallen in love with the game for themselves.
As much as the team might have had stars in their eyes initially, the game’s certainly done them proud. Life is Strange took home the BAFTA for Best Story, the Golden Joystick Performance of the Year, the Games for Impact Award from the 2015 Game Awards, and the Peabody Award – plus more than 75 Game of the Year awards and listings.
And yet, there are still people who haven’t played it!
Jon Brooke, VP Brand and European Marketing at Square Enix, continues:
By making the first episode of Life is Strange free, we’re really excited to welcome new players to the world of Arcadia Bay and our passionate, vibrant community. We’re incredibly pleased with the awards that the series has won to date as well as the support that our community have given us throughout the campaign.
The five-part game follows photography student Max Caulfield, who discovers she can rewind time. Max, and her best friend Chloe Price, find themselves exploring the mysterious disappearance of fellow student Rachel Amber – is Arcadia Bay as pristine and friendly as it seems?
