System Shock Kickstarter fully funded, has 16 days to spare.

With the release of the free playable demo a few weeks back, it should come as no surprise that Nightdive Studios’ System Shock re-imagining has smashed its Kickstarter goal, with 16 days left to boot! The $900,000 initial goal was surpassed this weekend, with the current funding figure sitting pretty at $967,000 with over 15,000 backers.

With the starting goal passed, stretch goals are the new focus, and while Nightdive is yet to implicitly outline them, the studio states that these will include “cross-platform integration, new locations, challenges, and multilingual support.”

In a post regarding the funding goal being achieved, Nightdive Studios CEO Stephen Kick wrote a heartfelt shout out to the backers.

“There’s no possible way I could convey how grateful the Nightdive team is to the 14,000+ backers who put their trust in us – we’re having a lot of fun remaking System Shock and we owe it all to you!”

The crowd funding campaign still has 16 days to go, and finishes on July 28. If you’re a fan of the original or just atmospheric RPGs in general, the free demo can be downloaded here.
