If you’ve been hanging out for Lara Croft’s glorious return to the big screen, we now know when that’s going to happen: January 16, 2018. Yes, it’s a while off, but what’s more interesting is the fact that even this far out, that date was already earmarked for the next big cinematic release from the DC Universe.
Now though, The Hollywood Reporter is saying that Warner Bros has rearranged its calendar a bit. The DC movie has been bumped – and not rescheduled – and Tomb Raider now takes pride of place in the January 2018 spot.
At this stage, we don’t know what that DC Universe movie actually is, either. Rumour has it picked as a big-screen adaptation of The Flash, which remains unscheduled, but nothing is confirmed as yet. Aquaman is also expected around that time (with James Wan directing), with two Justice League films acting as book-ends.
As for Tomb Raider, though – Ex Machina star Alicia Vikander is grabbing Lara’s iconic ice axe in the cinematic interpretation of Crystal Dynamics’ 2013 reboot.
