Last year, nearly 12,000 fans crammed themselves into the rather small Australian Technology Park for the inaugural Australian Rooster Teeth Expo or RTX. While reactions were mixed, the fans enjoyed themselves beyond measure. Now, the newly branded RTX Sydney 2017 prices and guests have been announced, along with the event’s new location!
The rebranding to RTX Sydney was a strategic move, RTX Sydney co-director Cameron Rooney explains:
Sydney is an internationally recognised destination. As we officially localise the event to Sydney beginning in 2017, RTX Australia will become RTX Sydney, leaving room for further expansion over the years to more cities, in Australia and beyond.
RTX Sydney 2017 is going to be held in the new International Convention Centre Sydney, which is in the final stages of construction, February 4-5th, 2017. The great thing about the new location means a lot of the negative issues I had with RTX 2016 will hopefully be addressed. In fact, the guys at RTX have taken the criticism of last year’s convention in their stride, with shirts that say “Stay cool at Darling Harbour” for sale at Supanova Sydney, this past weekend.
Gus Sorola, Rooster Teeth co-founder and executive producer explains:
When we launched RTX Australia earlier this year we were thrilled with the turnout and response.
Coming to Australian shores, you’ve got Rooster Teeth co-founders Burnie Burns, Gus Sorola, Kerry Shawcross, Miles Luna, Blaine Gibson and Josh Flanagan, along with RTX Sydney newbies Tim Gettys and Greg Miller from Kinda Funny. However, keep an eye out for more guests being announced as we get closer to the date.
Tickets go on sale July 7th. Individual Saturday and Sunday early bird passes will cost you $40, an early bird weekend pass will set you back $60 and if you want to feel like a total baller, VIP tickets will be $500.
