It’s been nearly a year since we first heard about Horizon Zero Dawn, and while we might have hoped to have the game in our hands already, it’s been struck down by the curse of the PS4-exclusive, and been delayed by just a little while. But here, have a trailer as a consolation prize!
It’s a pretty good prize, to be honest. The new trailer focusses on main character Aloy, an archer and hunter. Her backstory is one that Guerrilla Games is particularly proud of – how did this outcast embark on such a dangerous quest?
But, alas, it’s also the bearer of bad news. Horizon Zero Dawn now will not be on shelves until March 2017 (just like the rumour said), a decision Guerrilla’s Hermen Hulst says the team didn’t take lightly.
We realise that this decision may not please everyone. At the same time, we’re confident that the advantages of the additional development time afforded by the new date will become clear in the coming months, as we start to share more cool details and videos from Horizon Zero Dawn.
For such an ambitious game, we can’t say that we’re surprised by the delay, and we’re just hoping that it will mean a better finished product at the end of it all (plus some more of these stunning videos to watch).
Hulst explains the team “really, really appreciates” the support they’ve been getting from fans, and hope that you’ll be able to stay patient for just a little while longer. You can do that, right? Especially if it means Horizon Zero Dawn will launch on the new PlayStation 4K hardware?
