Say cheese! Dead Rising: Endgame (the sequel to Dead Rising: Watchtower) is set for release on Sony’s online streaming service Crackle this month. To make sure you’re properly in the mood, here’s a new trailer!
The new film picks up where the last one left off, with Jesse Metcalfe, Keegan Connor Tracy and Dennis Haysbert returning to their roles. There’s no Frank West this time around, instead with Canadian actor Patrick Sabongui stepping up as a – wait for it – skilled zombie killer and videogame fan, who “talks a big and crude game to mask his gentle side”.
Dead Rising 2 hero Chuck Green features, played by Victor Webster. Metcalfe’s Chase now has an on-again/off-again girlfriend (who’s also a computer hacker), played by Marie Avgeropoulos. Jessica Harmon appears as Jill, a news producer who joins Chase and his band of reprobates as they attempt to infiltrate a secret laboratory, and Billy Zane (The Phantom) plays Rand, the scientist who works in that laboratory. He’s been hired by the government to find a cure for the zombie outbreak, but – surprise! – he’s using the infected as guinea pigs for his own cruel experiments.
Realistically though, the story isn’t the drawcard here. There are zombies. It’s loosely based on Capcom’s best-selling series. It’ll be some good, messy fun, and it launches on Crackle on June 20th, with other platforms following later.
