Not so good news! Confirming reports of a delayed release, Hello Games developer Sean Murray has revealed a slightly later date for the launch of No Man’s Sky.
In a post on the official Playstation Blog Murray says the new dates are August 9 for North America, August 10 in Europe and August 12 for the UK. Which date Australia will align with is anyone’s guess.
While disappointing, this is not really unexpected. A game of such phenomenal scope must be hard to declare free enough of bugs to push out the door. And the number of people outside the company who have actually gotten hands on with the game has not been very reassuring, given the game was supposed to be out in 3 weeks.
And no, there’s no official word on the PC release. Given the expense Sony has gone to in promoting the game it seems unlikely the PC version is still coming on time, so don’t hold your breath.
Now, everyone cross your fingers this is the only delay. Or, failing that, the next delay is communicated to gamers a little bit better than a leak and a couple of days radio silence.
And yes, this is all Jessica’s fault.
[Update] Sean Murray has confirmed via Twitter that the PC release has also been delayed.
