Each week, gamers around the world log onto digital distribution platform Steam, to get their latest gaming fix, and every week, Player Attack lets you know which games were the most popular.
Now this is what I expected to see last week. The latest from id Software has taken its rightful spot at the top of the charts, finally breaking the stranglehold that DARK SOULS III has had for so long. If you’ve not yet picked up a copy, check out Kingsley’s DOOM review to see what he thought. Spoiler: It’s pretty damn good.
Other things that are interesting: Stellaris is apparently so good it’s in the charts three times – twice as a standard entry and once as a pre-order (hint: The game’s out now so you don’t need to worry about that). CS:GO is still lurking in the top ten, and while we thought we might see Civilization VI pre-orders popping up, it looks like fans are instead inspired to load up Civ V for their strategy fix. It makes sense, the new one’s not out for months yet, but we’re still a little surprised.
DOOM returns as a brutally fun and challenging modern-day shooter experience. Relentless demons, impossibly destructive guns, and fast, fluid movement provide the foundation for intense, first-person combat.
