Nothing’s been confirmed or announced as yet, but EA has hinted that a sequel to this year’s darling puzzle platformer Unravel is on its way. The publisher has signed a deal with Coldwood Interactive to extend its partnership, meaning the two will work together again on Coldwood’s “next project”.
In a statement during EA’s annual Investors Day, EVP Patrick Söderlund explained:
At EA, we love working with creative and passionate development teams, in our own studios and our partners. Which is why I’m very pleased to announce that we’ve signed a new agreement with Coldwood to work with them on their next project.
While details are slim – and no big announcements are planned just yet – this “next project” has been confirmed as a sequel to Unravel, in whatever form that might take.
It’s been quite incredible to see the community’s love for Yarny, both in the game and beyond.
In a month, it’ll be a year since we first saw Unravel – and Yarny – on stage at E3. Could the Swedish team come back after just 12 months to announce a follow-up? We’re told we can expect more “when the time is right”.
