World of Warcraft’s Duskwood recreated in Unreal Engine 4

World of Warcraft has come in for a bunch of criticism for its cartoon-like and “dated” graphics, even after a number of updates over the years. Blizzard seem determined to keep the art style on the simpler side and that’s just the way it is.

But what if it wasn’t? What if they had an infinite number of trained monkeys or scandalously underpaid workers who could update and convert the game into a modern engine?

Well, YouTuber Daniel L has been reimagining existing zones and his latest effort is a recreation of Duskwood, an early zone on the Alliance side.

Gosh, that’s pretty, isn’t it?

Obviously this will never be any more than a fan project as the work involved in porting all the other areas, monsters, characters, items and everything else into an entirely new engine would be staggering to say the least.

It’s nice to dream, though, of what a sequel could look like.
