Blizzard is looking forward to a big 2016, and it’s just gotten even bigger with the announcement that BlizzCon will be again taking over the Anaheim Convention Center in November this year. The convention is always a great event, but this year’s will be even more special: It’s the 10th celebration of all things Blizzard!
Mike Morhaime, Blizzard co-founder and CEO explains:
With more live games and upcoming content than ever before, 2016 is shaping up to be an exciting year for Blizzard gamers. We can’t wait to celebrate our 25-year anniversary with everyone during an epic weekend of gaming, esports, and great company at our 10th BlizzCon.
So, you are instructed to “gather your party, plot a course for Southern California, and get ready for an epic adventure!” BlizzCon is set to hit the Anaheim Convention Center on Friday November 4 and Saturday November 5 (that means Saturday/Sunday Australian time).
If you can get to California, Blizzard is promising all sorts of fun things to do this year, including in-depth discussion panels with Blizzard artists and developers. BlizzCon also plays host to the Global Finals for StarCraft II, Hearthstone, Heroes of the Storm and World of Warcraft! There are also community contests (with killer prizes), all sorts of swanky merchandise to pick up, and of course, hands-on play time with a bunch of Blizzard’s games.
As usual, the tickets will be sold in two batches, one on April 21 at 12pm Australian Eastern Standard Time and one on April 24 at 3am Australian Eastern Standard Time. Tickets are US$199 (plus taxes/fees), and will be available via online event ticketing service Universe.
In addition to the convention itself, there’s also an exclusive pre-BlizzCon dinner on Thursday November 3 (the day before BlizzCon), with proceeds to benefit the Children’s Hospital of Orange County. You’re invited to “raise a glass and geek out” with Blizzard developers, artists and community representatives – tickets for this one are on sale from Thursday April 28 at 12pm AEST for US$750 each.
Can’t get to California? Don’t stress. A Virtual Ticket will again be offered, which will give you comprehensive live coverage of the event, streamed online. More details will be revealed in the fullness of time – head to BlizzCon.com for more information!
