It’s officially after midday on April 1st, so we don’t have to pretend that this is real news – no matter how much we might like it to be. Riot Games has “announced” a very special Australia/New Zealand localisation pack for League of Legends. The update is totally (not) due out in the next patch cycle, and is designed to make the game “more appropriate for Oceania”.
Riot’s MasterMirkinen explains:
The reason for the change is that we have heard your feedback that Garen, for example, would be better off being known as Gazza.
…and here is the preliminary list of changes coming soon to LOL:
|Old name||New name|
Mirkinen acknowledges that the list is “currently incomplete” (and is probably destined to always be so). If you want to share some of your particularly Aussie names for League champions, make sure you post them in the comments – either here, or on the official website. I’d like to think that if we get an enthusiastic enough response, this just might happen…!
