A small town in the postapocalyptic West has been overrun by zombies, and it’s up to this group of handsome young men to banish the undead. Sounds pretty normal… but the handsome young men just happen to be former members of boy bands Backstreet Boys, ‘N Sync, 98 Degrees and O-Town. Dead 7 is a fan-fiction dream, and it’s headed to Syfy in April.
Nick Carter from Backstreet Boys plays Jack, the reluctant hero. He also wrote the story (not the screenplay!), and is co-producer on the project, alongside company The Asylum. Carter is joined by bandmates A.J. McLean and Howie Dorough, Jeff Timmons from 98 Degrees, Chris Kirkpatrick and Joey Fatone from ‘N Sync, and, well, most of O-Town – Erik-Michael Estrada, Jacob Underwood, Trevor Penick, and Dan Miller. Backstreet Boy McLean is the apprentice to the main villain, so they’re not all good guys!
(Sadly, Justin Timberlake is not present for this one – we’re guessing he might have had something better to do with his time. Like counting all the money he’s made by not appearing in Syfy original zombie films.)
…and the 90s-tastic star-studded lineup doesn’t end there, with Everclear’s Art Alexakis popping up too, as well as Seth “Shifty Shellshock” Binzer from Crazy Town. Nick Carter brought his wife Lauren Kitt Carter onboard to play Sirene, and Aussies may recognise Chloe Lattanzi – she’s Olivia Newton-John’s daughter.
Dead 7 debuts in the US at 8pm Friday April 1 – we’re waiting to hear back about an international date.
