You might be able to get your hands on DOOM sooner than you think, with the closed beta kicking off in just three weeks from now on all three platforms. To get you properly in the mood, here’s a brand new multiplayer trailer… but really, you’ve been in the mood for this one for years, right?
The closed beta runs from March 31-April 3 (US Eastern time, What’s that in my timezone?) on Windows PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and you’ll be guaranteed a place if you pre-ordered last year’s shooter Wolfenstein: The New Order and redeemed the Beta code.
The beta “is expected” to feature two modes – Team Deathmatch and Warpath – which will be played on two maps – Infernal and Heatwave. We’re also promised “never-before-seen weapons, armour sets, taunts and hack modules”, so this should be a fun time.
You can expect a sudden influx of information to be shared once the beta kicks off – publisher Bethesda has given gamers permission to share their gameplay experiences online. That means there will be screenshots, detailed posts, and video streams… and sure it’ll be multiplayer content, but if you’re hopign to avoid spoilers, be aware.
The official DOOM website has more information about the beta, including the recommended PC system specs, and an interesting note that you “must be 18+ to participate”.
DOOM is set to hit Windows PC, PS4 and Xbox One from May 13, 2016 – and it should go without saying, but Option B won the reverse box-art vote (with more than twice the votes!), so fingers crossed we’ll all be flipping cases in May.
