Of all the iterations Tron could exist as in the video game space, an endless runner is the last thing I would of expected, but is surprisingly the best game concept linked to the IP yet.
Tron Run/r, which was formally in Steam Early Access, is out now for PlayStation 4 and Windows PC. The game looks to mix up the endless runner concept with light combat mechanics and visual flair on par with an 80s acid trip.
The real draw of the project, as with many things Tron related, is the score. Early last year we reported that Giorgio Moroder, the composebest known for the soundtrack of Scarface, let slip that he was working on a video game based on Disney’s Tron.
I’m going to meet Skrillex next week when I’m back. I’m doing the music for a game for Disney’s ‘Tron’. We have about five themes, electronic stuff and let’s see if he’s interested in remixing or re-working one of the songs.
Currently the neon-clad runner is only available on PlayStation 4 and Windows PC but an Xbox One version is expected to release March 1, according to the Xbox Store.
Tron/r will set you back $20 (USD) on your desired platform.
