Expect a Watch Dogs sequel before April 2017

During the company’s recent earnings release for the third quarter of its 2015-16 fiscal year, Ubisoft confirmed that a Watch Dogs sequel is to be expected sometime before April 2017.

As part of the release, Ubisoft laid out what we can expect from the publisher over the next year. The line up included For Honor, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands, South Park: The Fractured But Whole and “the next installment of Watchdogs,” according to the earnings release.

Ubisoft also teased that it has an unannounced game as part of this years release schedule: “a new high-potential AAA brand with strong digital live services.” Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot confirmed that this unannounced game is a new IP.

No further information was disclosed about the Watch Dogs follow up, but Kotaku reported earlier this week that sources close to the project have said it takes place in San Francisco.

Ubisoft also announced that there will not be an Assassin’s Creed game released this year. Subsequently, the new Watch Dogs game may be primed to take its place as the publishers big fall release.
