Start your engines: Need for Speed releases for PC March 17

The latest Need for Speed reboot will launch on PC March 17, publisher Electronic Arts announced.

The PC version of the game will first become available to members of EA’s Origin Access subscription service on March 10, with non-subscribers having to wait an extra week.

The PC port of EA’s latest arcade racer will come with some improvements over its console counterpart, supporting 4K resolution, an unlocked framrate, and wheel peripheral support.

Regardless of chosen platform, Need for Speed players will soon be able to use manual transmission in the game too, EA confirmed. The date of the update was not disclosed though.

Those that choose to pre-order the Deluxe Edition through Origin will also receive the BMW M3 E46 as a starter car, as well as some other extras.

The lack of a PC release of the game last year disappointed some, but Developer Ghost Games explained that the PC version of the game was pushed back so they could achieve better visual performance.

As previously stated, Need for Speed will launch on PC March 17.
