Capcom to possibly “revisit” the Onimusha series

Onimusha, the classic franchise that blends Resident Evil and samurai action, hasn’t seem much love from Capcom since the swan song of the PS2; but that may be about to change.

According to Street Fighter producer Yoshinori Ono, Capcom higher-ups are talking about revisiting the franchise.

“I’ve spoken internally with people who made Onimusha with me originally and talked about maybe how interesting it would be to revisit that series,” Ono told publication Daily Star.

At the same time, Ono doesn’t want to raise fans hopes too prematurely, iterating “fans should know that we’re not further down that road than the discussion phase.”

Ono continued with thinly veiled teasing for various unspecified classic Capcom titles that may not have had their share of the spotlight in a while.

We [Capcom] realise the need for different series to maybe come back into the forefront and although there’s nothing to talk about right now, I’m sure in the future there will be news on variety of series that will keep the fans happy.

[Fan’s] favourites are going to come back.

Capcom’s fans need not wait long till the publishers next release, with Street Fighter V out February 16 for PlayStation 4 and Windows PC.
