First reported back in 2013, FOX appears to be going ahead with a serialization of William Peter Blatty’s 1971 novel about demonic possession.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the serial will be a psychological thriller following “two very different men tackling one family’s case of horrifying demonic possession, and confronting the face of true evil.”

Jeremy Slater (Fantastic Four 2015) will write the one-hour pilot, and executive produce with James Robinson, David Robinson and Barbara Wall.

Reportedly, Cinemax is also trying its hand at a series based around demonic possession, adapting Robert Kirkman’s (The Walking Dead) Outcast to the small screen. Outcast follows Kyle Barnes, a young man who has been plagued by demonic possession all his life. Now, with the help of the Reverend Anderson, a preacher with personal demons of his own, Kyle embarks on a journey to find answers and regain the normal life he lost.
