Despite being forced to abandon the trademark application for Unravel, publisher EA doesn’t have any plans to rename the upcoming puzzle platformer from Coldwood Interactive.
In a statement issued to Gamespot, EA has clarified the trademark issue will have no “impact the game title,” with the publisher “still looking forward” to launching the game in February.
Earlier this week, it was revealed that the US Patent and Trademark Office had rejected EA’s trademark application regarding the title, claiming that “Unravel” is too close to the title of an existing children’s game. The USPTO gave EA six months to appeal the decision, but it seems EA failed to respond by December 23, prompting an abandonment notice on January 19.
Unravel will be released digitally on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC February 9.
