Pretend to be excited: Sega 3D Classics Collection coming to 3DS

Sega recently announced something was coming today that would excite classic Sega fans. And I being a said classic Sega fan tried my hardest to give a single shit. Turns out my lack of enthusiasm was warranted, as what was it? A new Dreamcast? Haha! Of course not! A decent Sonic game? Kind of. Hell, the title already says it: It was a medley of average titles from their back catalogue released for the Nintendo 3DS.

The best part about it: the cover by Ken Sugimori.

The best part about it: the cover by Ken Sugimori.

The compilation will┬árelease April 26 and will retail for $30 (USD). It includes nine ‘classic’ games — Power Drift, Puyo Puyo 2, Maze Walker, Fantasy Zone II: The Tears of Opa-Opa, Fantasy Zone II W, Sonic the Hedgehog, Thunder Blade, Galaxy Force II, and Altered Beast.

The marginally interesting thing about this release is that it has Power Drift and Puyo Puyo 2 on it, which were never released widely outside of Japan.

Now if it had games like Streets of Rage, Strider, Golden Axe, Rocket Knight, Castlevania– you know, decent games- then I might not be so salty. The cover art by┬áKen Sugimori is really nice, though. Silver linings and all that…
