With the announcement that the complete edition of MKX, titled Mortal Kombat XL, would not be coming to PC earlier today, it has now also be revealed that the second DLC pack- which includes new fighters Bo’ Rai Cho, Leatherface, Triborg and the xenomorph from Alien- won’t even see a PC release.
“Mortal Kombat XL and Kombat Pack 2 will available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One only,” Tyler Lansdown, NetherRealm community specialist, said on the Test Your Might forums today.
Lansdown offered no explanation for the lack of support and new content regarding the PC port.
The PC port of MKX has had a troubled, short history. The port wasn’t handled by Netherrealm, but was instead outsourced to High Voltage Studios, and launched riddled with bugs and major technical issues. After numerous patches- some of which corrupted players save data- and a switch to another studio, it appears the publisher has given up; with the last patch dated September 2015.
If you want to look for a sliver lining in this whole fiasco centred around Warner Bros. recent abysmal PC ports, Warner Bros. said it would be reviewing its internal processes to try and prevent similar incidents in the future. That’s cute, Warner Bros.
